Save Water , Save Tree

Water and trees are two of the most precious gifts of nature. They sustain life, nurture communities, and protect our planet. Yet, in many parts of the world — including Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) — both resources are under threat. At WTFondation, we believe that saving water and protecting trees is not only about conservation but about safeguarding the future of children, families, and generations to come.

Why Water Matters

Water is life. It is essential for drinking, cooking, farming, and hygiene. Without it, communities cannot thrive. In the DRC, many families walk for miles every day just to collect water, often from unsafe sources. Contaminated water leads to deadly diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea, especially among children.

By saving water, we ensure that every drop is used wisely. It means building sustainable systems that provide clean water for all, reducing waste, and protecting families from the burden of water scarcity.

Why Trees Matter

Trees are the lungs of our planet. They give us clean air, protect the soil, provide shade, and serve as homes for countless species. In Africa, trees also provide firewood, fruits, and medicines. However, deforestation caused by logging, farming, and urbanisation is destroying this vital resource.

When trees disappear, the land becomes dry, crops fail, and water sources vanish. Communities are left more vulnerable to hunger, poverty, and climate change. Saving trees means protecting life itself.

The Connection Between Water and Trees

Water and trees are deeply connected. Trees help conserve water by keeping the soil healthy and fertile. Forests capture rainwater, refill rivers, and protect against drought. Without trees, water sources dry up, and without water, trees cannot survive.

This is why we say: Save Water, Save Tree. It is not just a slogan — it is a call to action.

WTFondation’s Efforts

At WTFondation, we are committed to promoting environmental sustainability as part of our mission to build stronger, healthier communities. Our initiatives include:

  • Building clean water systems in rural areas to reduce dependence on unsafe sources.
  • Planting trees in schools, villages, and community spaces to restore the environment.
  • Raising awareness about the importance of water and tree conservation.
  • Empowering communities to adopt eco-friendly practices such as rainwater harvesting and sustainable farming.

These efforts not only protect the environment but also improve health, food security, and resilience against climate change.

A Story of Impact

In one of our partner villages, women and children used to walk over six kilometres daily to fetch water. With the installation of a borehole and the planting of fruit trees around the village, the entire community has transformed. Children now spend more time in school, families have safe drinking water, and the trees provide food and shade. This small project has become a symbol of hope for the community.

How You Can Help

Protecting water and trees is a responsibility we all share. Here are some ways you can join us:

  • Donate: Support projects that provide clean water and promote tree planting.
  • Volunteer: Take part in tree-planting campaigns or awareness programs.
  • Practice conservation: Use water wisely in your daily life and encourage others to do the same.
  • Spread the message: Share the importance of saving water and trees with your community.

Every action matters. Together, we can restore the balance of nature and ensure a safe, sustainable world for future generations.

A Call to Action

Water and trees are more than natural resources — they are lifelines. Without them, there is no health, no food, no future. By choosing to save water and save trees today, we are choosing to protect life tomorrow.
